As CEO of REVOLT, Roma Khanna is responsible for leading the strategy and operations of the real-time, multi-platform brand and network. She reports directly to the Board of Directors of Revolt and the Chairman.
Roma’s 20-plus years of experience as a digital innovator and entrepreneur, and proven success growing global businesses in TV, broadcast, digital, film and distribution, led Mr. Combs to personally recruit her for this role. Roma is recognized across the industry as a creative, smart, relentless, passionate, socially aware and internationally connected leader and she believes in the opportunities that content provides when it intersects with technology across infinite platforms. She has demonstrated, time and time again, her unique ability to embrace the change and opportunity of the digital world and integrate it with existing models of content creation and monetization.
From 2011 through 2015 Roma was President of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) Television Group and Digital where she built and led MGM’s Television Group and digital business including all creative development and production, and TV/Digital deal and business model structures. She also led worldwide TV and digital distribution, including global distribution of MGM’s extensive film and TV catalog and new film titles once out of their theatrical and home entertainment windows, and branded channels
Under Roma’s leadership, MGM Television developed and delivered the critically acclaimed Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning miniseries “Fargo” to FX, an original adaptation of the award-winning film. MGM Television also developed critically acclaimed show “Handmaid’s Tale” and brought the hit dramatic series “Vikings” to HISTORY, in its fifth season and co-produced the last and final season (Season 6) of “Teen Wolf” with MTV. As well, MGM Television brought the courtroom series “Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court” to national syndication. Roma sat on the Board of Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group and pay television channel EPIX, in addition to the Boards of various global joint ventures.
Prior to joining MGM, Roma served as President, Universal Networks International & Digital Initiatives, with NBC Universal. She oversaw and grew a portfolio of over 70 NBC Universal international television channels, including the Syfy Channel, 13th Street, Universal Channel, Hallmark Channel, Divatv and Movies24 brands, as well as the Digital Initiatives division. Prior to that, Roma served as Senior Vice President, Content and Co-Head of Television for CHUM Limited, at the time one of Canada’s largest publically traded media companies, where she led all of the content creation, production, live production, pre-licensing, programming, acquisitions, digital and marketing for the TV group’s 33 local and national cable channels including successful cable channels Bravo, MuchMusic, Space and more. Roma also led CHUM’s numerous online and interactive distribution outlets, and had previously served as Vice President, CHUM Interactive, where she was led strategy and operations of all new media, mobile and cross-platform content for CHUM Radio and Television, many of which were a first in North America. Roma began her career in digital media as co-entrepreneur of award-winning and early innovator digital production company Snap Media and in music at Sony Music Canada in Business and Legal Affairs.
Roma serves as a board member and past Chair of the Canadian Film Centre and sits on the commercial committee of BAFTA and the advisory board for the Peabody Awards. She was the first recipient of Reed MIDEM’s “MIPCube Media Architect of the Future Award” for her pioneering work in the use of new digital platforms. She has received many accolades including the Times “Top 40 Under 40”, The Euro 50 award from Eurodata and was named among The Hollywood Reporters Women in Entertainment Power 100.
Roma is based in Los Angeles and holds law degrees from both Canada and the United States, as well as a BSC and MBA.
